Masseria Montalbano
Along the road between Fasano and Ostuni, in the territory of Montalbano, stands one of the most fascinating farm complexes in the Brindisi area, the fortified burg of Montalbano Vecchio, known nowadays as Masseria Montalbano.
A 16th-century masseria farmstead, originally purchased by the Acquaviva Aragona family, counts of Conversano, it is a two-story complex overlooking a large inner courtyard around which are laid out the buildings enclosed by the outer walls: the servants’ quarters, the cattleshed, the stables, three large oil mills and the small frescoed church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Rosary.
In the past, the inhabitants of the village used to live in low, clustered housing units laid out parallel and close to the main building, the manor house.
Today the masseria houses an accommodation facility.
