The pilgrim's link with the sacredness of places has given Monte Sant’Angelo a strategic position and a European significance in the history of the various paths, including the Francigeno one and, more particularly, the Micaelico one. "In the footsteps of the pilgrims (of San Michele)" has among its main purposes that of promoting and enhancing the culture of the Paths and the figure of the Pilgrim, as well as contributing to the social, cultural and economic development of the Micaelic city by enhancing its historical and artistic resources , the typical rural and naturalistic settlements and the food and wine resources.
