The Gaitanaki
"Gaitanaki" is the oldest cultural event of the region of Nafpaktos. It dates back to the Turkish occupation. What was the "Gaitanaki"? It was the way the mountain warriors sent messages to their comrades on the plain. The evolution of this way is today's "Gaitanaki" dance. The dance progresses with the plot in 2 rows of dancers with their arms crossed, with the dancers singing the lyrics of "Gaitani". The cultural event takes place every year on Easter Day 2.
