Masseria Lo Spagnulo

Cradled by the maquis shrubland of Ostuni’s countryside, Masseria Lo Spagnulo is an ancient farm dating from 1600
Build at the behest of the protonotary bishop Don Saverio Lopez y Royo, native of Pamplona, today it appears as an impressive fortified complex made up of several buildings, among which a rectangular tower, a church, a manor house, the houses that were once used as stables, the lodgings for the settlers and the ancient oil mill.
In addition to the high tower, the defensive function was provided by the massive walls, featuring two doorways, of which the main one is topped by the coat of arms of the Lopez family. Particularly remarkable are the double-ramp staircase leading into the noble apartments, and the small church featuring a Baroque façade and a tympanum with a mixtilinear crowning.
